Start with the frame, not the camera
Glasses sit on your face throughout the activity, so an exact frame and size decision comes before a feature comparison. Compare the selected size with glasses that already fit, and try the frame where possible. A similar product name does not establish identical bridge fit, temple length or lens suitability.
Separate lenses and regional options
The reference on this page is a particular colour, lens and size combination. Prescription, clear, sun and other lens choices can change both suitability and price. Confirm the optical requirements with the appropriate retailer or professional; this guide does not prescribe a lens or replace an individual fit assessment.
Hands-free recording changes the social situation
Make the intended capture clear to people around you and follow the rules of the setting. A camera built into a frame can be less obvious than a phone held in the hand. Do not assume a recording indicator resolves consent, confidentiality or a workplace restriction. Where recording is unsuitable, choose a different tool or do not capture the interaction.
Ask which features work where you live
Check the current supported phone, companion app, language and country for each feature you want. Do not treat a launch announcement’s future software promise as proof of present availability everywhere. A feature demonstrated in a video may have conditions that matter more than its headline.
Open-ear audio has a different job
Compare how you plan to listen. An open-ear arrangement and headphones serve different situations, so decide whether awareness of the room or a more private listening experience is the priority. We have not measured leakage, call quality or battery life. Do not infer a test result from the manufacturer’s product photograph.
Alternatives
Use the phone you already carry when occasional photos are the main need. Compare a dedicated microphone for a controlled creator setup, or earbuds for listening. Our beginner creator setup guide helps separate capture needs from buying an entire new system.
Common questions
Is Gen 2 the same as Meta Ray-Ban Display?
No. Display glasses are a different product family. This page covers the Wayfarer Gen 2 RW4012 reference.
Is USD 379 a verified current price for every frame?
No. It is the Gen 2 starting launch price in Meta’s announcement. Check the exact current frame, lens, size and country at the retailer.
Will every AI feature work in my country?
Do not assume so. Verify current region, language, phone and app requirements for the particular feature.
